Tour Overview

Discover two countries in one eleven-day journey combining Armenia’s ancient monasteries and volcanic landscapes with Georgia’s historic cities, wine country and high Caucasus scenery.

The Armenian programme includes Yerevan, Khor Virap, Areni, Noravank, Zvartnots, Echmiadzin, Garni, Geghard, Lake Sevan, Dilijan and Haghpat before crossing the border into Georgia.

Continue with Tbilisi’s old town, the vineyards and pilgrimage sites of Kakheti, the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi, and the UNESCO-listed monuments of Mtskheta before returning to Yerevan.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Yerevan and Evening City Tour

Meet your representative at Zvartnots International Airport and transfer to the hotel. After check-in and time to rest, begin an evening introduction to Yerevan.

Walk through the city centre to Republic Square, the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Northern Avenue and the Cascade Complex. Enjoy free time after the tour.

Day 2

Yerevan - Khor Virap - Areni - Noravank - Yerevan

Travel to Khor Virap for its striking view of Mount Ararat, then continue through the Vayots Dzor wine region.

Visit Areni-1 Cave, where archaeological evidence of early winemaking was discovered, and explore Noravank Monastery among dramatic red cliffs before returning to Yerevan.

Day 3

Yerevan - Zvartnots - Echmiadzin - Yerevan

Visit the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral and learn about the scale and innovation of this seventh-century architectural masterpiece.

Continue to Echmiadzin, the spiritual centre of the Armenian Apostolic Church. After returning to Yerevan, visit a celebrated brandy factory for a guided tasting.

Day 4

Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan

Drive to the Kotayk region and explore the Symphony of Stones in the Azat Gorge.

Visit the first-century Temple of Garni and its ancient fortress, then continue to the rock-cut Geghard Monastery. When available, guests may hear traditional spiritual chants before returning to Yerevan.

Day 5

Yerevan - Lake Sevan - Dilijan

Check out and travel to Lake Sevan, one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes. Visit Sevanavank Monastery on the peninsula.

Continue to the forested resort town of Dilijan and nearby Yenokavan. Optional activities at Yell Extreme Park may include zip-lining, a rope park, via ferrata, horseback riding or an off-road excursion.

Overnight in Dilijan.

Day 6

Dilijan - Haghpat - Georgian Border - Tbilisi

Travel north through Lori and visit Haghpat Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site overlooking the Debed Gorge.

Cross the Armenian-Georgian border at Sadakhlo and continue to Tbilisi. Explore the old town, ride the cable car to Narikala Fortress, and visit Metekhi Church, Sioni Cathedral, Abanotubani’s sulfur-bath district and the open-air ethnography museum.

Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 7

Tbilisi - Kakheti - Sighnaghi - Velistsikhe - Tbilisi

Travel to Kakheti, Georgia’s renowned wine region. Visit Bodbe Monastery, associated with Saint Nino, then continue to Sighnaghi, often called the City of Love.

Visit Velistsikhe village for a wine tasting before returning to Tbilisi for the night.

Day 8

Tbilisi - Ananuri - Gudauri - Stepantsminda - Tbilisi

Follow the Georgian Military Highway through spectacular Caucasus scenery. Stop at Ananuri Fortress and Zhinvali Reservoir, then continue through Gudauri and the Georgian-Russian Friendship Monument.

Reach Stepantsminda and travel by 4x4 to Gergeti Trinity Church for panoramic mountain views. Return to Tbilisi for the night.

Day 9

Tbilisi - Jvari - Mtskheta - Svetitskhoveli - Tbilisi

Visit Jvari Monastery for a panoramic view over the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers.

Continue to Mtskheta, Georgia’s ancient capital and a UNESCO World Heritage destination. Explore Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, then return to Tbilisi with free time for shopping.

Day 10

Tbilisi - Yerevan

After breakfast, check out and transfer from Tbilisi back to Yerevan. Check in at the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 11

Departure from Yerevan

After breakfast, transfer to Zvartnots International Airport for departure.
